Rafting & Canyoning weekend in Bovec
Two iconic Soča experiences in one package
The Rafting & Canyoning weekend in Bovec combines two unmissable experiences in the Soča Valley: whitewater rafting and the playful canyoning tour in the Sušec Canyon. This program is ideal if you are coming to Slovenia not only for sightseeing, but because you want to actively immerse yourself in the landscape. One half day is all about classic rafting on the emerald-green Soča River, while the other is about the natural waterpark atmosphere of the Sušec Canyon: with waterfalls, rock slides, jumps and wet adventures.
How should you imagine the Rafting & Canyoning experience?
What is a Rafting & Canyoning weekend?
The Rafting & Canyoning weekend is a discounted experience package that combines two different half-day outdoor programs in Bovec: a Soča rafting tour and a Sušec Canyon canyoning tour. This way, you can try the two best-known water adventures of the Soča Valley in a single weekend.
Rafting is a team experience: you paddle together in a larger raft under the guidance of a tour guide. Canyoning, on the other hand, is a more playful and immersive adventure: you move down through natural slides, waterfalls and canyon pools.
The perfect active weekend
This program is not just “two tours one after the other”, but a well-combined active weekend. On one day you paddle on the Soča River, and on the other you move through the canyon, making the water adventure varied, memorable and full of experiences. It is an especially good choice for those visiting Bovec for the first time and wanting to try the region’s best-known programs.
How to book the package?
Booking the package starts from the classic rafting page: choose a date, enter your details, then after proceeding, continue with the offered canyoning tour. This way, the two programs come together as a weekend package.
We capture the best moments
You do not have to worry about taking photos or risk your phone and your own safety on the water, as photos can optionally be taken during the tour. After the program, you can view the pictures in an online album, and you only decide to purchase them if you would like to keep them. The photo album costs €24.
Who is it a good choice for?
The Rafting & Canyoning weekend is recommended for those looking for an active, adventurous but well-organized program in Bovec. We especially recommend it for first-time visitors to the Soča Valley, because the package includes the two best-known programs: Soča rafting and Sušec canyoning.
Who do we recommend the Rafting & Canyoning package for?
- couples,
- groups of friends,
- families with older children
- anyone who wants to try more experiences over two days.
Who is it not recommended for?
This is not the best choice for those looking for a completely passive program, who cannot swim, are afraid of water, or do not want to slide, jump, paddle and move in a natural wet environment.
If you are arriving with smaller children, or are looking for an easier, shorter family program, it is worth choosing the Family Whitewater Rafting instead. If you are looking for a more extreme, longer whitewater experience, the Soča Rafting Expedition or the PackRaft Expedition may be a better direction.
Important information and conditions
The Rafting & Canyoning weekend is an adventurous, active program package. It was not designed for extreme athletes, but swimming ability, good physical condition and health, as well as following the guides’ instructions, are required.
Participation conditions:
- Swimming ability: This is whitewater rafting, so basic water confidence is required. The life jacket keeps everyone afloat, but it is important not to panic in the water.
- Age limit 8+: Classic rafting is generally recommended from the age of 8 years. Exact participation may also depend on the current water level, weather and the guide’s decision.
- Weight limit: Due to the standard sizing of safety equipment, the maximum weight limit is 125 kg. If you are close to this, please let us know in advance.
- Health: Participation in the tour requires a sober, clear state. It is not possible to take part in the tour under the influence of alcohol or mind-altering substances.
- Physical condition: You do not need to be an athlete, but basic mobility and cooperation are required. The tour is not recommended in case of serious cardiovascular or musculoskeletal problems, or recent injuries.
- Safety: Before getting on the water, every participant receives a safety briefing. During the tour, the guide’s instructions must always be followed.
- Weather and water level: The program can also take place in the rain, but the route or departure may change depending on the current water level and safety considerations.
- River use fee: A separate river use fee is payable on site for the Soča River (3–21 €/person). The amount may depend on the current section and water level.
- Exclusive condition of participation: signing the liability waiver.
- Insurance: Travel insurance with extreme sports coverage for rafting and canyoning is mandatory. Please arrange suitable insurance before your trip and make sure it covers rafting, canyoning or other white-water activities.
How to prepare before the rafting & canyoning weekend?
Prepare for two active water programs: rafting on one day and canyoning on the other. We provide the necessary technical equipment for both tours. For rafting, we provide a wetsuit, neoprene shoes, helmet and life jacket; for canyoning, we provide a wetsuit, neoprene shoes, harness and helmet.
Accommodation booking
It is worth looking for accommodation nearby so you do not spend too much time traveling. Booking 2 nights is recommended so you do not have to start the journey home tired.
What should you bring?
Swimsuit or swim shorts, towel, sunscreen, personal medication, dry change of clothes, a bag for your clothes, and if needed, cash or card for additional items.
What should you not take onto the water?
Phone, valuable jewelry, glasses that cannot be secured, or high-value items. You can leave these in a safe place before the tour. If you wear glasses, it is worth securing them with a strap. For contact lenses, it is recommended to bring spare lenses or glasses as well.
What should you expect physically?
This is not passive boating: you need to paddle, pay attention and cooperate. It is best if participants arrive rested and in good general condition on both days.
Weather and water level
The Soča is a cold alpine river, and the program may change according to water level and safety conditions. However, rafting is also an experience in the rain, since you will get wet on the water anyway. In cooler weather, the proper neoprene equipment helps keep you comfortable.
